Fras-le Management system
Fras-le is ISO/TS 16949 certified since May 2004 and was the first friction materials company to achieve this certification.
The benefits from ISO/TS certification are several and they include the improvement of the quality system of the product and process, reliability for global supply, and the common language for improvement in the general understanding of client requirements.
Fras-le is certified to ISO 9001 since 1995, and since then the company and its entire product line has been carrying the ISO 9000 seal, displaying the quality that meets the most demanding global markets.
The ISO 14001 standard specifies requirements so that the company’s environmental management system develops and implements policies and objectives that consider legal requirements and information about significant environmental aspects. The environmental management system has been in place since 1998 at Fras-le, and it was certified by the ISO 14001 Standard in 1999.
Some of the processes that are part of the management system::
- Effluent treatment center;
- Solid waste management;
- Gas treatment system;
- Composting solid waste;
PNQ (National Quality Award)
Since 1999, Fras-le has participated in the National Quality Award in order to align the management model with the Excellence Criteria, using Evaluation Reports presented by PNQ examiners and transforming every opportunity for improvement into a challenge to be overcome.
In 2007, through the continuous improvement processes for management refinement, another step in the search for excellence was taken when Fras-le was recognized as one of the awarded companies. This recognition was a victory built by man hands; it was the effort of all the employees that allowed the company to achieve this awarded position in the national setting.
PGQP (Gaúcho Quality and Productivity Award)
Another organizational learning activity was participation in the PGQP process. Since 1993, Fras-le has participated in PGQP. During this period the management system has been adjusted to the criteria of this award. The evidence of the evolution is in the achievements of the Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Diamond Trophy awards.

CCQ - Quality Circle
In June 1989, Fras-le took an important step in the direction of total quality when they implemented CCQ - Quality Control Circle. The philosophy of the CCQ was developed in Japan after World War II in order to help the country overcome the post war challenges by improving the quality of the processes, products, and services. This work model was brought to Brazil in the beginning of the 1970's, and at the end of the 1980’s its popularity grew and was adopted by several companies, especially those located in southern Brazil.
