Randon Technology Center (CTR) inaugurates new area for dynamic testing

With 53,000 sq., structure has the largest low friction track in Latin America

The Randon Technology Center expands its structure in order to consolidate itself as one of the main complexes for the development of solutions for the mobility industry in the country. The CTR now has a new area for dynamic testing (VDA - vehicle dynamic area) with 53,000 square meters, destined to the development, testing and homologation of stability control systems. The structure also has the largest low friction track in Latin America and special tracks for noise analysis and tire performance. The inauguration took place on Monday, October 26, in live transmission on the Internet, with the participation of Randon Companies’ executives.

In this new area, it will be possible to conduct tests for various types and combinations of light and heavy vehicles, with the capacity to support the necessary approvals of braking systems with anti-lock (ABS), electronic control of stability and performance and tire noise. The VDA has the largest low friction track in Latin America, with 1,800 square meters (300 meters long), covered by polished basalt plates. There are also tracks intended for noise testing and tires’ performance. The structure designed for performance analysis, 150 meters long, has a system for irrigation of the pavement allowing the performance of tests on dry or wet tracks.

Added to the installed infrastructure, CTR has a team of technicians, engineers and pilots highly qualified for the development and execution of tests, always focusing on safety. "We designed this area to meet the technological demands of our industry. In addition to the track structure, we invest in protection systems for the driver and vehicles, which make it possible to evaluate the limits of vehicle systems, without risk to the professionals involved", highlights the Innovation Manager of Randon Technological Center, Joel Boaretto.

In 2020 alone, CTR invested about R$ 20 million for the expansion of runway structures, the structural laboratory, and also for the creation of the Innovation Lab, seeking to consolidate itself as one of the main hubs solutions for the mobility industry. "This set of initiatives allows us to offer a complete service to our customers and partners. We seek to apply in our business the concept one-stop-shop. CTR will have in one place the possibility of performing the complete development of their vehicle, from virtual evaluation, design of prototypes, to validation tests and homologation of the product for final application", reinforces the Director of Technology and Product Innovation of Randon Companies , César Augusto Ferreira.

Created ten years ago, CTR is a center for the development of technologies, testing and validation of innovations. Located in Farroupilha - Brazil, in an area of more than 90 hectares, it functions as an engineering hub, enhancing the process of creating the technical team from the available resources. The Randon Technological Center has 20 types of tracks, totaling 15 kilometers, where the most different tracks and specific irregularities allow performing tests in the most varied conditions. It has a building of 2,200 sq., with administrative areas, engineering, meeting rooms, structural laboratory, electronic support and a technical space for vehicle preparation.
